A few years ago, I stumbled upon the documentary Fantastic Fungi on Netflix, and it transformed my approach to health supplements. As a self-proclaimed health supplement nerd, I was already deep into researching various ways to try and heal the damage I had done to myself with the typical American lifestyle. However, this documentary took my interests in a new direction and added another layer to my understanding of how to use supplements to activate change in your body.

The film opened my eyes to the incredible world of mushrooms and their potential health benefits. I dove headfirst into researching various species like Lion’s Mane, Turkey Tail, and Cordyceps. The more I learned, the more convinced I became of their potential to support brain health, physical health, and disease prevention.

One of my central goals is to do everything I can to prevent dementia as I age. With this in mind, I started incorporating mushroom supplements into my daily routine. Paul Stamets, a renowned mycologist and a key figure in the documentary, became a significant source of information for me. I find him relatable and informed; I appreciate that he draws on personal experience and well as research.

Currently, I take Lion’s Mane and Cordyceps daily. Lion’s Mane is known for its potential to support cognitive function and nerve health, making it a perfect ally in my quest to maintain brain health. Cordyceps, on the other hand, is celebrated for its ability to boost energy and support physical performance. Additionally, I cycle through a few other mushroom species, taking them for certain weeks and then giving my body a break.

For those interested in the specifics, I’ve listed my dosages and the brands I use on Pinterest.
